CLASS INFO

Ballet

Students will learn ballet positions and steps and connect their movements in dance phrases to music, working to increase alignment, balance, turnout, musicality, flexibility, strength, stamina, coordination, and artistry.

Jazz

Dancers will learn the foundations of jazz dance, such as isolations, working in parallel, coordinated arm and leg movements, intricate footwork, rhythm patterns, turns, and floor work. Students will improve their technique through center-work, strength and flexibility exercises, across the floor progressions and choreography. Jazz terminology and movements are rooted in ballet technique. Jazz students are strongly encouraged to take ballet class to enhance their jazz training.

Tap

Dancers will focus on tap vocabulary, rhythms, steps, combinations, improv and choreography. Students will work on listening skills and will develop their sense of rhythm and musicality while strengthening their tap sounds, quality and clarity.

Tap/Ballet Combo

This combination class introduces young dancers to the basics in both tap and ballet technique. The class begins in tap shoes, creating sound and rhythm while learning the fundamentals of tap technique. About halfway through, there will be a quick water break and shoe change. The ballet portion begins with seated stretching and exercises. Then, standing center barre, which will focus on posture, and basic ballet positions and movements. The class will finish with an imaginative across the floor.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is an energetic class that utilizes grooves, rhythm, flow, texture and level dynamics to create fun combinations to popular music.
